Big Bird Count 2017 – Part 1 – making bird feeders

We are helping the RSPB and undertaking the Big Bird Watch. We think our forest school is a good habitat for birds but in winter time they sometimes need an extra bit of help to find food. So we made some bird feeders.

We used pine cones, string, lard and bird seed. (Some of used cardboard rolls and oranges) We tied string onto the pinecone, smothered it in lard and the rolled it in bird seed. We then hung them up around forest school.

Why don’t you make a bird feeder at home? You could even join in the Big Bird Count. Visit https://ww2.rspb.org.uk/get-involved/activities/birdwatch
