Over the next couple of weeks we are undertaking ‘The Shelter Challenge’ at forest school. We will be working in cooperative groups designing, making and evaluating our shelters. We are developing team work skills, making structures, knot tying and whittling to make pegs. We have learnt about different designs of shelters. Who will get the most points in the shelter challenge?
EYFS and Year 1 will make and evaluate dens/hiding places. What this space…
This year we are hoping to undertake lots more outdoor learning and forest school sessions. Please ensure your child has their forest school kit in school on the appropriate day.
We are asking that each child has a pair of wellies in school and a pair of named tracksuit bottoms or leggings and thick socks can be kept in their P.E. bag and used when necessary.
Forest School kit – Polo shirt and jumper (they will already be wearing), tracksuit bottoms and socks (already in P.E. kit), wellies – to be kept in school. On their forest school day – waterproof coat and if you have them waterproof trousers. Other accessories depending on the weather conditions – hat, gloves, extra fleece, tights, sun hat, sun cream etc. Items may get dirty – we will send them home if they do.
Please name all items of clothing. I do have spare clothing and waterproof pants you can borrow or you can buy ‘Splash’ waterproof pants from Mrs Macleod at £7.50. Please send £7.50 in a named envelope by 30th September. Please put this information on the envelope – FAO Mrs Macleod, Waterproof pants and age (either age 4 /5, 6/7 or 8/9).
We will go out whatever the weather – ‘There’s no such thing as inappropriate weather just inappropriate clothing’ so please help your child to be prepared.
