Linking to topic work Y3 came out on a wet and windy morning to make a Celtic settlement. In our cooperative groups we had to make a round house. It had to fit all of the group in, be sturdy, round and protect the group from the wind and rain!
We planned, made and evaluated.
Inside we made shields and spears. Just before lunch the Y4 Romans invaded. How did it feel to see our camp destroyed?
In the afternoon the Romans set up camp, making Roman Soldier tents. It had to fit all of the group in, be sturdy, tent shape and protect the group from the wind and rain!
Thank you to Mrs Finch and Mrs Brindle who gave up their time to come and help. What a day to remember!
As part of a science topic about light, Year 4 have been given a project to make a willow lantern. We have learnt about sources of light, shadows, how to cut, join and make a willow frame. We work in cooperative groups which means listening to everyone in the group, sharing, taking turns and everyone being an active member of the group.
The lantern will be a square based pyramid shape and must contain pictures to create a shadow. Watch this space to see photographs of our learning. The project will end with a lantern parade and forest school camp fire!
Year 4 were set a project to design, make and evaluate a Celtic Round House -forest school style! They had to work in cooperative groups, discuss designs and plan how to make it. The criteria – it must be round, fit everybody in, protect the group from the wind and rain and look good. Take a look…
